Good till the last drop. The Maxwell House Grind is a coffee-soaked gravel ride out of Maxwell, NM — pick your cup: the Double Espresso 74 or the Short Shot 33. Either way it is 90%+ dirt on a clockwise loop, rolling out from the Post Office at 8AM behind a new paved warmup start.
It is self-supported and serious about it: GPS navigation required, and 74-mile riders need to carry at least 100oz of water — there is no sag out here. The field is capped at 60, so it stays intimate.
Class winners take home antique coffee tins planted with cactus, which is about the most New Mexico trophy imaginable. Bring your own beans.
