SUMMARY:Road Apple Rally
LOCATION:null\, null
DESCRIPTION:Since 1981\, the Road Apple Rally has been doing this longer than most of us have been riding — it's the longest continuously running mountain bike race in America\, and it still feels like a genuine celebration of the sport. The name comes from the early days\, when riders had to dodge horse droppings on shared trails\, which tells you everything about the scrappy spirit this thing was built on. It's a real race with cash on the line for the pros (up to $750 for the win) and trophies through the age brackets\, but the vibe covers everyone from the 8-year-old lining up for the Sprint to the Distinguished 60+ crew grinding out the long course.\n\nGlade Run Recreation Area is classic New Mexico high-desert riding — expect sandstone\, singletrack\, and the kind of terrain that rewards riders who know how to pick a line. Fast and fun is how the organizers describe it\, and with under 2\,000 feet of climbing on the long course\, this isn't a pure suffer-fest.\n\nThree course options spread across a real range: the Pro/Expert at 30.1 miles with 1\,880 feet of climbing\, the Sport at 14.6 miles and 680 feet\, and the Sprint at 4.4 miles and 272 feet. The weekend kicks off Friday evening with a Downtown Bike Party at the Farmington Civic Center — packet pickup\, rider dinner\, beer garden\, a criterium fun race\, and a kids skills course — so budget for the full two days if you can swing it.\nRace · MTB
